Corrective Exercise Training

What is corrective exercise training?

Being a National Academy of Sports medicine certified corrective exercise specialist (NASM-CES) enables me to optimize movement quality to enhance performance, results, injury resistance, movement efficiency, and recovery using a phase based corrective exercise continuum model which includes:

  • muscle inhibitory techniques using self-myofascial rolling or manual therapy

  • muscle lengthening techniques using static, neuromuscular, or assisted stretching

  • muscle activation techniques using isolated strengthening

  • muscle integration techniques using specific, total-body movement patterns

Why is corrective exercise training important today?

To make a long story short, it’s because sedentary behavior, caused by lots of sitting and physical inactivity, increases all-cause mortality. From the past few decades to the present, the wealth of technology and automation in the United States has had negative consequences on public health. Chances are, many people today have developed muscle imbalances because of sedentary lifestyles due to the plethora of technological advances in today’s day and age. With the rise of technology, people are less likely to be active and spend less time involved in physical activity at work and during their leisure time. As a result, lack of regular physical activity creates a body that is less prepared to adapt and recover from activity, leading to increased injury rates. My job is not to treat musculoskeletal injuries after they have occurred but to reduce the likelihood of injury from happening in the first place. Preventative medicine is incredibly important. Are you ready to increase mobility, flexibility, joint range of motion, restore muscle imbalances, and move better than you have in years? Let’s start today!
